About DreamDeep
A new force in sound
DreamDeep builds deep, expressive instruments and effects that bring neural networks and advanced signal processing to musicians and releases the music made with them.
The story
Made by a player, for players
DreamDeep was founded by me, Chris Rodbourne. I've been an electronic musician and software developer for over forty years (yes, I am a bit old, lol). It's logical to combine the two passions and NeuralDream is the culmination of this work, developed over the course of 2026.
Those two lives meet in everything DreamDeep makes. The engineering goes as deep as the technology allows. Every control is placed and tuned by someone who plays, which is why the instruments feel like instruments and not like software.
NeuralDream is the first result: a synthesiser and an effect processor built over many hundreds of hours, with more than forty engines and more than 340 presets. It is the start of a family of instruments, effects and records.
What we believe
Sound is wonder, beautiful, longing and personal
Made to be played
A DreamDeep plugin is meant to be played and explored for years. It will grow with you while we provide free updates.
Ready in seconds
Every instrument comes with finished sounds you can play in seconds and every panel is open for when you want to go further.
Musical first
Neural networks and advanced signal processing earn their place only when they make something that sounds new and musical.
The technology
Neural and DSP, side by side
DreamDeep's engines combine several families of sound technology in one signal path and every control in every engine can be modulated.
Neural processing
Four engines run neural networks on your audio as it plays, from captures of real amplifiers and tape machines to RAVE, which re-imagines one sound through what a model learned from another.
Spectral processing
Morphing, gating, vocoding, cross-synthesis and style transfer let one sound take on the shape, the detail or the voice of another.
Physical modelling
The modal oscillator models an exciter striking, plucking or bowing a resonator so a note behaves like a real object that has been set ringing.

Grains and particles
Granular oscillators rebuild any audio from tiny grains and Particles gives birth to clouds of up to 1024 short tones, each with its own pitch, wavetable, length and place in the stereo field.

Generative music
Starling listens to what you play and to the sound it is making itself, then develops your ideas and takes the lead when your hands leave the keys.
Modulation
Four LFOs, four envelope followers and four macros can move any control in any engine, through a pool of 1024 parameters your DAW can also automate.
What comes next
The first of a family
NeuralDream is out now. DriftDream is a powerful product that we have chosen to give to everyone on the DreamDeep list. More instruments, effects and music will follow.
